The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Allen Reynolds of Gordo and the late Mr. and Mrs. Rubin B. Humphryes of Northport, Ala.

The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Pitt of Gaithersburg, Md., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Marion Toulmin Gaines Jr. of Mobile, Ala.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Gordo High School and the University of Alabama, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a double minor in English and history.

She is the managing editor of the Greenwood Commonwealth.

The prospective bridegroom is a graduate of Albert Einstein High School in Kensington, Md.

He is a logistics management specialist for the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response, Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, D.C.

The couple will exchange vows at 4 p.m. Dec. 5, 2009, at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Greenwood.

The Revs. Bernard Wiggins and Granville Wiggins will officiate at the ceremony.

Miss Hargrove is a 2001 graduate of Pillow Academy and a 2006 graduate of Mississippi State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree. She is also a 2008 graduate of Mississippi College, where she received her master’s degree.

She is employed by Germantown United Methodist Preschool.

Mr. Hodges is a 2002 graduate of Houston High School and a 2006 graduate of Mississippi State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree.

He is a 2009 graduate of the Mississippi College School of Law.

Mr. Hodges is employed by Hodges Law Firm.

The couple will exchange vows at 6 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009, at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity.

The Rev. Craig Gates will officiate at the wedding.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Taylor Riley Jr. of Greenwood.

She is the granddaughter of Ina Hinton of Clinton and the late John Hinton; and Rebecca Riley of West Point and the late Frank Riley.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William David Howard of Sidon.

He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard Shaw, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bridwell of Greenwood and the late Noland Howard.

Anna Margaret Pierce and Lacy Taylor Riley, both of West Point, served as program attendants.

The pews were lined with grapevine cones filled with hydrangeas, spray roses, ferns and ivy. The stained glass windows were lit with candles surrounded by greenery.

Nuptial music was provided by organist Gerald Claxton of Greenville.

Susan Lassiter of Clinton served as wedding director.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white strapless gown made of silk faced satin. The empire waist was embellished with crystals and seed pearls, and the skirt fell into a chapel length train. Her fingertip veil was sprinkled with sequins and pearls.

She carried a hand-tied bouquet of white peonies, hydrangeas, spray roses and hypericum berries. It was tied with satin ribbon and nestled with an embroidered antique family handkerchief.

Amanda Carol Riley of Starkville, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Josephine Katherine Howard of Sidon and Elizabeth Howard Jones of San Francisco, Calif., both sisters of the groom, Emily Lauren Lassiter of Clinton, Ashley Nicole Thompson, Kelli Annette Lott and Katherine Ryan Kimmel, all of Greenwood, and Ann Kathleen Strain of Jackson.

The attendants wore tangerine strapless knee-length polished cotton dresses. They carried hand-tied nosegays of lilies, daisies and hydrangeas.

Sydney Lee Pierce of West Point served as flower girl.

Martha Raney Grantham of Greenwood served as the bride’s proxy.

William David Howard, father of the groom, served as best man.

Groomsmen were Walter Davis Makamson, Andrew Chassaniol Stainback, Scott Lane Wynne and Fraiser McLeod Smith, all of Greenwood, Donald Robert Toomey of Starkville and Phillip Richard Barbour of Bybee, Tenn.

Ushers were Tyler Harrington Gann and Doss Lowry Earnest, both of Greenwood, and Francis Shaw Barbour of New York.

After the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Thompson. Guests enjoyed a dinner buffet and danced to the music of the Mike Ellis Band.

Earlier that day, a bridesmaid luncheon at The Alluvian Terrace Room was hosted by Jenny Thompson, Susan Lassiter and Becky Riley.

On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted an elegant dinner in honor of the couple at Yianni’s.

Following a honeymoon to Jamaica, the couple is at home in Sidon.

The groom is the son of Dr. John Fair Lucas Jr. of Greenwood and the late Sethelle Bell Lucas.

He is the grandson of the late Dr. and Mrs. John Fair Lucas Sr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Hilliard Bell, all of Greenwood.

The bride wore an ivory gown of re-embroidered Alencon lace with a chapel-length train. Her fingertip veil was trimmed with matching lace.

The bouquet was a classic biedermeier bouquet of Virginia roses and jade roses.

Following a honeymoon to San Juan, Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean islands, the couple is at home in Jackson.

The bride is a 1994 graduate of Humphreys Academy. She received a nursing degree in 1999 and a master's degree in 2005, both from Delta State University.

She is employed at Greenwood Leflore Hospital's Itta Bena Clinic.

The groom is a 1978 graduate of Pillow Academy. He received an undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi in 1982 and a medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 1986.

He is employed as an orthopedic hand surgeon in Jackson.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Michael Fair of Avalon.

He is the grandson of Mr. Carl Edward Reese and the late Mrs. Reese and Mr. and Mrs. Charles J. Fair, all of Senatobia.

The double-ring ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Matthew Robert Rowe.

Nuptial music was presented by organist William Gerald Claxton and flutist Elizabeth Brown Rowe. Tante Faulkner Moore served as vocalist and Laura Suzanne Mims as lector.

James A. Barrett served as verger, and the accompanying acolytes were Elizabeth Vaughn Avant, Shelby Kathryn Rowe, Richard Ashcraft Shaw and Mary Reynolds Whites.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a bridal gown of ivory taffeta, which featured a ruched sweetheart neckline embellished with a fleur beading of seed pearls and crystals touched with a silver thread. With her gown, she wore a fingertip veil of edged illusion.

She carried a bouquet of green mini cymbidium orchids, mango callas, estelle and orange roses nestled in wisps of string smilax. A monogrammed handkerchief was tucked into her bouquet.

Serving as maid of honor was Callie Anease Calhoun.

Bridesmaids were Julia Andersen Bledsoe, Meredith Leigh Coleman, Kathryn Anne Flanagan, Lindsey Accardo Fyke, Kristin Zito Lindley, Tante Faulkner Moore, Mary Gregory Porter, May Shackelford Trezevant and Jennings Kathryn Whelan.

Serving as program attendants were Mary Margaret Leflore and Spencer Carol Leflore.

The groom's father served as best man.

An autumn supper was served, which included a mixed grill board, chafing dishes of spinach and crab dip, shrimp yvonne and a Bombay curry bar.

The bride's five-tiered wedding cake embellished with miniature seasonal fruits sat atop a cypress plateau under a massive hanging basket of crop cuttings.

The groom's table held the warm Belgian chocolate fondue with miniature cake bites, cookies, meringues and trays of chocolate cups with assorted liqueurs.

On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at The Alluvian. Johnny Crocker of Jackson provided music for the evening.

After returning from their honeymoon in Jamaica, the couple is at home in Greenwood.

The Rev. Craig Richard Hunter Gates officiated at the double-ring ceremony. Nuptial music was provided by organist Debra Atkinson, trumpeter Andy Hall and vocalist Connie Black.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a classic Ulla Maija strapless A-line gown fashioned from duchess silk satin. The bias-designed gown, featuring diagonal panels with welted seams, flowed into a chapel train.

She wore a veil of bias-edged silk illusion that fell from a tiara, designed by Karen Fenaroli, of sprays of freshwater pearls and crystals entwined with porcelain flowers.

Julie Swayze McLemore and Allison Swayze Pillow, sisters of the bride, served as matrons of honor.

Bridesmaids were Jenny Marie Meacham and Julia Anna Meacham of Brookhaven, Jill Adele Meacham of Ridgeland, Anna Lucille Mudter of Chicago, and Ann Farrell Roberson of Vicksburg.

They wore a two-piece ensemble of silk satin organza. The top was strapless, in ivory. The floor-length A-line skirt was in papaya.

The bridegroom's father was best man.

Tharp and Eastland announced wedding plans

Mr. and Mrs. Glen Allen Tharp of Winona have announced the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Jennifer Allyn Tharp, to Hiram Chester Eastland III, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Chester Eastland Jr. of Greenwood.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Sybil Tharp of Winona and the late W.M. Tharp and of the late Mr. and Mrs. William E. Senner of Dalton, Mass.

Miss Tharp is a 1996 honor graduate of Winona Academy and a 2000 graduate of the University of Mississippi, where she received a bachelor of business administration degree in marketing. While at Ole Miss, she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority, which she served as public relations director. She was a member of Golden Key National Honor Society and the Advertising Federation, and she was a dean's list scholar.

She is presently employed as membership/marketing manager at the Memphis Botanic Garden.

The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Marjorie Carpenter of Greenwood and the late Kelly Carpenter and of Carolyn Eastland of Doddsville and the late Hiram C. Eastland Sr.

Mr. Eastland is a 1996 graduate of Pillow Academy and a 2000 graduate of the University of Mississippi, where he received a bachelor of business administration degree in general business.

While at Ole Miss, he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, which he served as house manager and Delta Sigma Pi pledge class president. He also served as a senior staffer for American Legion Boys State.

He is presently employed with Eastland Law Offices and plans to pursue graduate studies at the University of Mississippi.

Vows will be exchanged at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2001, at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Greenwood. A reception will immediately follow in the rose garden of the church.
